  • Dear Dunya,

    Dear Dunya,

In Letters to Our Ummah on April 6, 2012 at 12:24 am

    Dear Dunya,

     You suck.

You are like a mirage, you are beautiful from afar but the closer and closer I get to you, the more I realize how fake you are,

You are like a sour patch kid but you never turn sweet,

You are like a dandelion very beautiful but equally destructive,

You make me laugh as you make me cry.

    You are so deceitful.

    You make everything so tempting…

I know it is wrong but you make it sizzle like a fresh steak on a grill,

You make the worse of things seem like the best of things

    You make sins seem pleasing,

    But you know what…

I take it is a challenge, the more you tempt me, the more I will fight.

The more you make sins look pleasing the more good deeds I will perform,

The more spice you add to life, the more prayers I will pray to dampen down the heat,

You are not going to win,

You can catch me slipping but you will never catch me running,

Oh Allah please do not let me be deceived by this dunya and when sin hits my way, please have me run the opposite way.

Dajjal and Surah Kahf
Via Sister Wesam
Who is Dajjal?
Dajjal is a being that will appear on earth during its last days. He is the antichrist. Allah-hu-Alam if he is human or not but he will claim to be God and anyone who is wish-washy in their religion will fall for his tricks. People will wake up Muslims and fall asleep Kafirs. Subhnallah! Inshallah we are not in the time of the Dajjal.
From Hadith,
Ibn ‘Omar said, “The Prophet mentioned the Dajjal to the people. He said, “Allah is not one-eyed, but the Dajjal is blind in his right eye, and his eye is like a floating grape.’” (Muslim) Anas Ibn Malik said, “The Prophet said, ‘there has never been a Prophet who did not warn his people against that one-eyed liar. Verily he is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed. On his forehead will be written the letter Kaf, Fa, Ra (Kafir).’” (Muslim, al-Bukhari)
Hudhayfah said, “The Prophet said, ‘I know more about the powers which the Dajjal will have than he will know himself. He will have two flowing rivers: one will appear to be pure water, and the other will appear to be flaming fire. Whosoever lives to see that, let him choose the river which seems to be fire, then let him close his eyes, lower his head and drink from it, for it will be cold water.
So what does the Dajjal have to do with Surah Kahf, and why do we read it as a protection?
Surah Kahf addresses the four fitnahs: fitnah of deen, fitnah of dunya, fitnah of knowledge, and fitnah of power. Dajjal is the epitome of all four of these fitnahs, and encompasses all four of these tests.
1.       Test of Deen:  Dajjal will be the first being who will have the power to seem as if he truly is God such as bringing people back to life and making it rain on his command. This is a huge test for anyone who does not know who Allah is, we need to know who Allah is and be firm in our deen.
2.       Test of Dunya: When Dajjal comes, the earth will be in a tail spin, people will be in famine and very poor, and the Dajjal will have everything that belongs to this dunya that people love so much. Dajjal will feed the poor only to ask them if he is their lord, showing them “his” hell which is heaven and “his” heaven which is hell. There will be people who will tie themselves in their homes in order to not encounter him.
3.       Test of Knowledge: Dajjal is not an idiot, as shaitan is not an idiot. He will be able to tell people things in their past and future which will fuel his arrogance.
4.       Test of Power: Dajjal will be one major ruler at the times along with the Mahdi, he is going to have insurmountable power.
This is why we recite the first and/or last ten (allah-hu-alam) in order to protect us from him because he is the biggest fitnah to EVER walk his earth!  He is an embodiment of the shaitan.  May Allah give us the deen to protect us from him.
How will the Dajjal be destroyed?
Dajjal will not be on earth that long (Allah-hu-Alam) but it is said that he will be on earth for 40 days, with the first day like a year, second day like a month, third day like a week and the rest like regular days. But when it is his time, none other than Isa (AS) will descend to destroy the anti-christ. And Jesus (AS) will not even break a sweat but will look at the Dajjal and he will melt! :) Alhamduiallah! And when Isa (AS) is back on earth, the truth is out! Isa breaks all the crosses meaning any thoughts of him ever being the son of God, Isa comes down following not to follow. This is when the faith will be at the best of times.
Dua to protect us from Dajjal
“O Allah! I seek Your protection from the torture of hell, and I seek Your protection from the torture of the grave, and I seek refuge with You from the mischief of life and death, and I seek Your protection from the mischief of Dajjal pretending as Messiah.  O Allah! I seek refuge in You from sin and from debt.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 2:102, Muslim 1:412, 588]
